so I got my C200 diff skid.....

and as it turns out the new C200's are not exactly the same as the old C200's. The bolt pattern is off by about 5/8" side to side. And about 1/4" up and down. The actually studs are different in size too, newer C200 has larger studs.

Nissan sucks when it comes to keeping things the same year after year. Mad

So I cut the diff skid in half and removed 5/8" and then cut it again to remove 1/4" top to bottom. More work than I would have liked but it is good to go now and I will be bolting it in this morning. Pics will be in my Patrol thread later today.

It is a simple item that wouldn't be hard to fab. Thing is the ring or base plate is cut using a laser or water jet. Now that is easy to do if you have the super expensive hardware. We don't so fabbing up a skid would be a pita but it worked out in the end.

I have a question, do I want to just get a locker for my rear? Or do a rear axle swap for a dana44? Sorry, im real new to all this, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, first, go in and change your avatar to 100x75 size.

As for you question, first are you sure you have a C200, on the door jam it should say something like CA46. If so, the only locker available is the ARB Air Locker, about the same cost if you have a Dana 44.

But I will say that I have the C200 with a ARB installed, but currently there are no gear upgrades for it (on backorder forever). Also the Dana 44 will have axle upgrades and cheaper parts, and stronger than the C200. If you only do occasional 4-wheeling and just wanting a locker, don't want to change gears, you can buy my axle in a few month (if Res doesn't buy it).

If your member profile is correct. 04 frontier did not come with a Dana 44. You either have the c200 or an H233b with 33 spine shafts. Only options are LSD's are arb air locker.

LSD is good if you don't plant to get to radical. If you heave hardcore planes ARB air locker is the way to go.

If you have a dana 44 rear axle available I would ditch the Nissan axle. Gears are cheap and the Detroit locker is available. I would take a Detroit locker over an ARB any day. I don't like dealing with the air lines.

The ARB has its benefits too though. When disengaged, you have a normal open diff, which is a lot safer on icy roads, etc. than a mechanically locked axle. If you live where it snows, that's something to think about.

Took me forever to figure out how to resize my pics. But yes, I have the CA46. Was thinking of getting the ARB, 900 bucks + install costs = $1150. I like the option of being able to switch to an open dif, so I don't deal with the tires catching. Basically, I like doing trailriding with medium grades. I want to be able to rawk up a rock when I need to though. Budget is always a concern, that's partially why I was wondering which way would be better to go.
Thanks again for your help.

Gumy, what kind of setup is yours?

Crunk, Where are you located?

Res might want to chime in because he has first dibs on my axle, but I have a CA46 (C200 with 4.6 gears) with a ARB Air Locker under my truck currently. I also have a H233b axle over at Brent's house with 4.9 gears but it needs a ARB Locker and the spring perches reversed for Spring over vs. spring under. I am looking at selling my current one when I get the H233b built.

Otherwise, I purchased and had my ARB Locker installed at Desert Rat in Tempe for around $1150 (that included the compressor).

I am going to have to wait to get my bonus before I can get the ARB to go in the H233b, so it will be around the end of Feb. that mine is available. That is of course if Brent is available to rebuild the H233 at that time.

Res, are you still interested or were you only wanting both (the front and rear)? I ended up trading my front Diff for the rear H233b.

A tight(new) LSD would allow you to climb on rocks. Cheaper than going the ARB route.

On the other hand, There is no comparison to LSD VS Locker.

The doorjamb sticker might tell you what you have.

Yeah, his doorjamb says CA46. Gearing is 4.625:1.

Minor-crap details here, but 33-spline axles are 46 = 4.636:1
43 = 4.363:1

As opposed to the 31-spline 4.625 and 4.375

Hey guys,
Just for the record,
Titans, Armadas come with the M226 (D44 Variant which is not a standard D44, aftermarket gearing avaliable soon)
and so do new frontiers and Xterras With the Off-Road Package.
frontiers and Xterras without the Off-Road package have the new C200K which is different than the old C200.
The carrier for the C200 and C200K are different part numbers from the factory and i am unsure of if ARB's C200 Locker will fit the C200K.
I have been talking to Mark up at ARB and they are willing to measure up a C200K to get going on figuring out a locker for this diff but they need someone with a truck equpied wiht the C200K in the area to let them borrow their truck for a day.

anyone in seattle, WA?
