Hello all.. you guys seem to be experts in dealing with nissan axles, so maybe you can answer a question about my rear axle. I have a 2002 4cyl frontier and I want to put a locker or some kind of LSD in it but I don't know what to order it for. Can anyone tell me if this axle is a C200 like frontiers had in years prior? Or is it a new design? The reason I am wondering is because the axle looks nothing like the older C200's, and is not big enough to be an H233. It closely resembles a D44 in appearance, but is not stamped with the dana logo so I don't know what this rear axle really is. The dealer can't seem to answer this question for me, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it has a removable rear cover, it's probably a C200. The dealer should be able to research the VIN # and find out for sure.

Yeah, I figure that it would be a C200 like 4 cylinder models of prior years, but it is a larger solid axle than a C200. The C200 axle housing and final drive physically looks much smaller than what I have, the diff cover is removable, but the axle itself more closely resembles a Dana 44 in size & appearance. I have talked to two techs @ the dealer I bought the truck from & they don't know, one lady took down my VIN# but all she came up with was "Final drive assembly not available @ this time". So I am hoping that it is a C200 so I can take advantage of wide aftermarket support, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it is a new design for '01-'02

It might be aH190. I think they are using a C200 similar type axle but it is a little smaller than the C200. Check with the dealer. I used to be able to keep up, but it has gotten a little complicated. Good luck.

An H190 has a removable 3rd member like a 233B.

If you want to be sure, take some measurements of the diff cover, count the bolt holes, or something and I can measure mine to see if it's the same.

the h190, which was what I had in my 2000 2wd truck, is a third member carrier. The c200 is with the rear cover. THe 233 is also a third member carrier.
