I personally am not a fan of flanges. But, I'll give you the same response I got from some peeps (here at work) gave me about painting my truck... "If YOU like it, that's all that matters."

yeah i wasnt sure how to connect those pieces without flanges , cause i do want my bumper and sliders to be seperate haha

although now that i think of it , i could have used a smaller pipe to run inside both , then drilled a hole thu each and bolted it up that way , would that have worked?

I don't hesitate to weld that kind of stuff. Besides a welder, I also own a torch. Nothing CAN'T be undone.

It looks good. It must have been a PITA working that curve.

I plan to do the same thing to mine. I am already planning it in my mind. Thanks for making my decision easier.

yeah but id hate to have to cut that bar to get my sliders or bumper off

i went ahead and cut the flanges off , what im goin to do now is use a bigger tube like a coupling then bolt thru that , it should come out alot cleaner looking , only reaso i didnt put a smaller tube inside what i have now is cause it wont fit lol

Since you mimiced my truck, here is a picture of the rod inside the tubing

This is the tap I used for the bolt-on pieces. You and get them from "Industrial Metal Supply" on 48th st between Broadway & Southern, they sell for $3 each and have a 1-1/2 hole in the center.

ARB does their side rails similar to what you mention:

They use a sleeve that the bar fits into, with bolts that pass throguh both the sleeve and the bar.
