smiley33 Went wheeling this sunday and the clutch went completely out. I was on a steep hill when it quit. It was a bad feeling when in 1st gear clutch pedal allthe way out and the truck is rolling backward. It took us almost 3hrs to get it back to the road. Got a clutch kit from napa a chilton service manual and taking tomorow off to replace the clutch. It' too cold to ride the bike in the morning so i've got to get the truck working. is there any special trick on replacing clutch on a 98 frontier or is it pretty easy to do? Thanks in advance.

It is pretty straight forward... make sure you replace the pilot bushing, and while installing the new clutch, use an alignment tool to make it MUCH easier getting everything set up.

You sure its the clutch and not the hydraulics?

I am pretty sure it's the clutch. It's been acting up for a while already and it just gets worse and worse. the hydraulic is moving the lever like it's supose to do, and when it happened I saw a big cloud of smoke comming from underneath th trck and a really bad burned smell with it. I started removing the front and rear dive shafts this evening and I'll start removing the shifter and the restr of the stuff in the morning. This is the first time for me to do a clutch job. wish me luck and shoot me with some advices. Thanks,

trannk jack. our trannys are heavy. get you a extra set of hands when removing/installing the tranny. always have safety in mind.

You'll need a couple of feet of extensions.
