Ok today i had my hands on a 2000 or maybe it was a 2001 anyway it was one of the new body design Frontier's only 2wd though. I was interested in seeing what kinda flex it had in the rear so i flexed it out and only had about 23" of travel

I am wondering how you did your measuring? 23 inches of travel? Hmm, sounds suspicious to me. I am not sure, but I don't think that measurment is accurate. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems like they have less than that.

I think he's talking about lifting just one wheel before any of the others lift. That still seems like a lot though. The frontends only have about 7-9" of travel due to the IFS.. the backend of my pathy has at least 18-20" of travel though when its articulating. Not sure how that compares to the frontier though.

23" of wheel travel...hmmm. I'll try to measure mine today...should do fine since I have my d@mn stock rear shocks back on (freaking 4wheelParts!). As far as the oil filter on the 4bangers, that has 2 fixes. Fix 1: relocating kit Fix 2: 3" body lift Hmmm, which did I choose?

sorry forgot to say i measure form the center hub tot he edge of the fender which gives it about 6-7 inches of flex from unflexed position

Frontiers have shit for leaf packs. 2 big thick leaves and an overload. Using an AAL doesn't really improve anything and just causes the second leaf to break (I've replaced 3 of them). Eventually I will mix and match myself some different spring packs. Shocks can be a limiting factor - they definitely are in the front of my truck. I am maxing them out both ways right now (compression and extension). Without relocating the upper shock mount and using a longer shock there's not much that can be done about this.
Revolver shackles can be adapted to a Nissan. Crazy flex can be obtained with those. Even longer shackles may help, as the factory ones are really short and may also be limiting flex. Out of curiosity, how long are the leafs in the back of your Titsu, and how much flex do you get from it by comparison? Also, was the 2wd you played with a Desert runner (same height as a 4wd), or was it one of the little wimpy trucks with the spring under? 1998 Frontier 4x4 seriously built 2002 Xterra 4x4 still stock "Conjunction Junction, what's your Dysfunction?" |

it was just the little 2wd not the desert runner. I also campared the leaf length and width to my Titsu and they are pretty close to the same size so you could probly swap them across. The titsu has 4 leafs 3 normal leafs and then the small little load leaf, i also put on 2" lift shackles and longer shocks. so using the same method of measurement the titsu gets 29-30" of flex. So it could be the fact that either since my springs are over 13 years old they have become a bit softer so they are more flexy. were the nissan is still pretty new and they are nice and stiff. I also bent the leaf clamps out some on the titsu to help it get some more flex they were on there kinda tight.

I think you need to refine your method of measuring flex. I've read this whole thread through, and still cannot figure out how you measured 20" of flex on a wimpy 2wd Nissan... (hehe just takin' a stab atcha Pecker)

Lordtrunks:" Another thing that damn oil filter on the 4cyl frontier is a pain in the butt to get to. "
Pecker:"Never been easier, hell I can do it sittng down in a comfy chair. Lataz..." which means? your going thru the wheel well ? after turning the steering hard right, and popping a couple tabs on the fender liner? or you have a remote setup? ..that's how i used to do it on my 98 frntr- was a real pain ,until i understood how to get to it. now i just go under the body underneath the passenger seat, every 13 tho and swap out one or the other on a dual remote ...................... 1998 nissan |

i know when i had that stock 2000 truck, it didnt flex worth a shit, and this was before and after the suspension lift. In comparison to datz's nissan who has a fair amount of rear flex, he beat me two to one.
GOT ANY BALLS?????????? |
