Has anyone tried using air shocks in the front? I don't mean the ones from JC Whitney which are meant to level the ride back out after a heavy trailer is added. I mean the air shock/spring ones. I know Xtreme 4x4 used them on a buggy. They talked about them not being able to handle a bunch of weight but didn't say a number. I was thinking about something like this...

those are pretty cool , didnt even know they had those but a better alternative to coil overs for this setup due to clearance issues

If they support the weight of the truck reliably. I have sent a few emails to the company and haven't got anything in return. I'm gonna try and call tomorrow.

Those shocks are designed to be used in a 3/4 link system. You air the shock up with nitrogen to the designed height.

I've seen a few in use. I don't think they were ballistic ones. Only issues is air escaping after a hard day of wheeling. Considering they take nitrogen, owners say it's expensive to buy the equipment to keep them serviced.

On a ifs set-up just get you some nice regular shocks and you'll be fine.

Idler arm, I replaced my steering with moog parts. I never bent the IA. I wore out the steering parts several times over.

Penski, don't waste money on an idler arm brace. just get an aftermarket steering kit and be done with it. The stock setup is junk with an UCA lift and will chew up centerlinks quickly when wheeled.

They're expensive. No bones about it.

A cheaper alternative would be a hoohaa centerlink. You actually can use an IA brace with that with positive effect.

I just installed a Hoohaa centerlink on Ben's (snatfinder) rig. It was VERY easy to install. The hardest part was pulling off the pitman arm to drill it out. I recommend taking it off the rig, and at the very least using a drill press, altho, a bench vise and good hand drill will work wonders. Use cutting oil Wink
