the front of the axle kinda looks like a c200. Totally different from the <-04. I don't know what Nissan was thinking The carrier is different from any other Nissan carrier I've seen before.

yeah i dont know why they went with aluminum but the carrier is a very tight fit in there , but after doin looking some of the blown diff on other sites its looks like people were getting weak cv's which were snapping and the broken part would end up in the diff and just grenade it , ive seen the same thing with augers on ice machines , some just end up with weak metal

ok,ok,ok. Let me understand how the new cv's work. On the old R200A axle the cv's bolt up to a stub shaft which seals the entire diff from the outside.

With the new 05+ diff(which is what model by the way?) the cv axle makes the seal to keep the axle closed up from the outside? If so then this would explain all of the front diff problems.

A CV shaft cant create a seal.

yeah sorry i never got back to you on that , but if i send it to them , do i get anything in return or something in writing i get the carrier back in a timely manner

but the front diff and c200 i have are spares lol
and yes biotree the shafts pop right out and expose the inners of the diff

This explains why all the front diffs are exploding. Very bad design on a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

actually i think they are exploding cause the shafts are weak , so lets say u have some wheel spin then your tire grabs it ends up snapping the cv which then a piece breaks off and blows apart the aluminum housing , im guessing when you hear the first pop of the cv , stop and take the shaft out that broke you may save the diff

I don't know about that. That's how most FWD cars are and that design seems to hold up OK there.

I think it's the housing itself that's weak.

it is the housing itself... the cv's are actually VERY strong...
I took down an 8" diameter tree with my shaft, drop spindle, and tie- rod end... ripped the tie- rod end clean off the drop spindle, but didn't break or bend the axle, at all...

and I've blown my front diff once, trying to pull out a tractor, uphill, in 4-lo, at full throttle... blew the ass-end out of the housing, but no broken shaft...
