Hi everyone,
I am finally done replacing the clutch on my truck. The bigggest problem i encounter while doing it was the weight and the size of the drivetrain it's HUGE Eek. I pulled it out in one piece (Transfer case and Trans.) using a couple of heavy duty ratcheting tiedown straps going under the trans and acccross the frame, and a hydraulic jack. The straps allows me to lift, lower and rock the trans back and forth and the jack is there to catch it just incase. I did it this way because all I had availlable was a couple of floor jacks. Just be very very careful I kept the jack about an inch away from the bottom of the trans while it was on the straps. Later,

If you can buy/borrow one of these, I would, make the whole job go easier.

X2 on the tranny jack.
I bought the one pictured from Harbor Freight for $65. Money well spent even for a one-time use. It could save a fortune in emergency room fees.

It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

My tranny jack (same as above) has removed Sandbag's trany, 3 of my trannys, and Mud borrowed it to do work on his tranny/t-case. I have even used it to swap axle from under my vehicle. It is a handy little tool, when it is returned smiley16. And for the peoson whop has it, take your time and be safe, I don't need it for a while.
