I got this really thick diff cover for the front of my rig. It has a good shape, makes it look different. I rattle canned everything so it will not get rusty.

Guy in my neighborhood makes these and sells them for $35-40. He makes D44 and D30 and can probably make most anything else with a template.

They are 5/8"s, solid rod.

Remove the 4 bolts holding it on. You gotta remove the cover to drain the oil anyways.

you have to remove the whole cover...why does that seem like a messy job to me?

Oops, 5 bolts. The skid just goes on over the top of the cover.

D44's don't have a drain plug underneath...at least mine doesn't.

dana hubs normally don't have a drain plug. Just about all that I've seen, you have to take the cover off to drain them.

drain plugs are usually only on 3rd member style pumpkins, but there are a few exceptions (like front pumpkins with IFS).

By the looks of that dif. protector it looks like checking your fluid level or for water would be kind of a pain in the butt.
