I ran for 3 years without one. Slow down a little bit on corners and it's fine....particularly if you run stiffer shocks and tbars.

I have a CC and took mine off about a year and a half ago. I didn't notice any particular difference on the road. But, I don't drive it like it's a Porsche, either.

I have stiffer shocks/tbars now, and the truck handles better (less body roll) than it did before.

youll notice it for sure...before i took it off i could take corners faster than the speed limit...with it off the max i would do on a corner IS the speed limit - if you dont wheel, dont take it off though....theres no point

Roll over angle in off camber situations is going to be decreased. From what I can tell from folks, my guess is that this reduction is somewhere around 5 degrees or so.

Emergency maneuver capability on the highwar will be greatly diminished.

Offroad, the IFS will finally flex to its full capability. Desert Rat had some terrific pics of his IFS flex without the stabilizer if they are still stashed around somewhere.

Yeah, there's a thread where Mikey is bashing IFS and its 'few' inches of travel. Andy posted up a pic of The Meany (in IFS form) showing almost a foot of travel.

I did some searches, but can't scrounge it up.

I can see where the emergency maneuver will diminish on the highway, but based on stock susp with the stock sway bar removed. Because the compression in the shocks I have now is stiffer, I think it will offset (to a large extent) the soft factory shocks and sway bar. Where I see the difference now is with the susp lift and the Calmini steering - the steering is much "quicker" in response, so it would be easy to over-react/over-correct.

But, like I said, I don't drive my truck like a Porsche. I drive 60ish on the highway, due to mileage (and some safety aspects), and just crank up the stereo and enjoy the ride. I also don't tailgate people and allow LOTS of room between me and other vehicles, in case I have to make 'an emergency maneuver'.

If people drove this way, though, I wouldn't be able to see all the really cool accidents every day on my way to and from work.

Regards,

-matt

Not Andy's truck...it's mine. This is w/ 33" M/T's. Best guess was the rock was +/- 20" tall, maybe a smidge more, but I like to under-estimate, rather than over.

It's hard to tell in the pic, but it looks like you're running a body lift? The driver side front looks pretty much maxed, but not stuffed.

Any binding in the CV's?

Good pic though, in the scheme of things makes IFS look pretty darn good.

Sorry, don't mean to get off-topic. Um, to keep this on topic, see, if you remove the front sway bar, you get that much flex.

Oops. Evidently deleted the pic from my server. I'll get it back up tonight.

No, I'm not running a body lift. I chopped the fenders. Body lifts are gay, IMO, unless you can't chop fenders anymore.

No binding CV's, either. Though, I drive to protect them, just in case (aka, no turning sharply when at full droop).

At any rate, yeah, that's what you get w/o a front sway bar, and aftermarket UCA's.

Sorry. looked through my computer this evening, and can't find that pic anymore. Must've been in a temp folder I deleted. I've got some others, but none that have a decent angle.

Maybe some other time.

porche996- Thank you for the effort, it's appreciated. I think I'll leave my sway bars on until I feel I still need to after LSD installation.
