I have a 2001 Frontier 4x4 and the I went to use the air conditioner and when i turned the fan on it only works on high (3 setting) both for the heat and the air conditioner. would it be the switch? if so how do you get at it? Roll Eyes

This has been brought up several times in the past. Do a search (Find in the toolbar) and you should find something.

To the best of my memory there are two issues,

1. the contacts are dirty and need to be cleaned (Good News) Smile

2. There was a problem with the entire mechanism and needs to be replaced, although I thought this was only on 99-2000 model years. (Bad News) Frown

yep revan's is right it was brought up not long ago and those were the two thing's determined to fix it...

There's a fan motor resistor under your dash over on the passenger side...about a $20-25 part from the dealer. Replace that and your fan will work normally again.

Very common problem.

Thanks for the info. Where abouts on the passanger side is this relay and what and do I have to disassemble to get at it...tks

Look around for it...it's a card looking thing about half the size of a computer sound card or modem. It's easiest to buy the part and then you know exactly what you're looking for.
