Howdy,
Been surfing this site for a few weeks now since I bought a used 00 CC 2wd v6 with 125k on it. I test drove the thing up to 60 mph and thought it was pretty much a good deal. But when I owned the keys and headed down the highway I noticed a slight rumble at 70+ in the seat of my pants and under my right foot. Just had the tires balanced the other day, so rules that out. I did do a search for vibration and now suspect it's probably the carrier bearing or an unbalanced driveshaft. I'll probably just buy a CB and try the work myself. Where's the best place online to order one?

Also, is there any other issues with the 00 CC V6s I should look out for? Timing belt was already changed at 115k and I was planning to replace all the fluids.

Thanks.

From one of the home page vendors. Tell them you want the N4W discount.

YOu don't have any good driveshaft shops in your area that can install the CB and BALANCE the DS?
Even if you do the install yourself, please ,don't skip taking the DS to a shop to get it balanced.

DS shop might be able to get the CB cheaper, even.

If yhou've a 5speed- don't put GL-5 lube in it- GL-4 only!

Dang!

Well, I took the drive shaft off and took it to a local shop and had a new carrier bearing, new u-joints, and balance done. And wouldn't you know it, it made it worse! Instead of a light vibration at 70 mph, I get a moderate vib at 45-70 now. WTF? I'm wondering if the balancing machine was out of wack, or possibly the aftermarket (aka non-nissan carrier bearing) was no good.

And to add insult to injury, my cruise control went out, (got the green light on the switch, but won't activate.) As well as it's starting to pull to the left and the turn-signal sometimes chirps in the center detent.

And oh yeah, found out the cigarette lighter plug in is burned out.

I need an exorcist.

if you're all balanced, tires could be the issue. are they quality tires or cheap ones?

talk to the DS shop and maybe they will work with you...good luck

With the two-piece shaft, the joints must be "in phase". On the front section of d-shaft, there is a welded yoke and a splined yoke that bolts on. These must be paralell (in-line) with each other. If they are at an angle to each other, you will get a vibration, but it is typically upon starting out in 1st gear.

Check your transmission mount. It may be resting metal on metal, transmitting vibration that way.

Rotate your tires left to right and front to rear. (LF goes to RR, RR goes to LF and so on.) This may produce a profound difference, indicating a tire problem.

That's all I can think of. Smokin
