Hi everyone,
I think my truck is overweight. I need to put it on a diet. Any suggestion on how to lighten the Frontier KC 4cyl? Big Grin

fillup twice as often-put only 1/2 tank.

Remove the heatshield on the exhaust manifold

Stripp out your carpet.

take off your tailgate.

Remove the jump seats

Fill your tires w/ helium.

this will make you consume gass faster as It has more volume to vaporize into. Instead, fill up twice as often and keep it more than 1/2 full and find other ways to shave weight.

Ever consider a "bobbed bed"? use the search for bobtail bed ideas. that'll cut a bit of weight.

Take the bed and doors off. If it's a mud truck or off-road only truck, start gutting all unnecessarily stuff.

IF you got off road bumpers and things, take them off. Put stock stuff back on.

I was thinking about fiberglass hood, doors, fenders and bobbed bed. I want to keep the XD9000 and the sliders. It's my DD and my weekend playtoy.

Here's my question. Why do you want to lighten up your truck? Usually as time passes a off road truck gets heavier.

My 2wd Hardbody is a 4cyl, surprising with the gearing it's got it'll whip my V6 hardbody. Thats with tires bigger than the truck should have.

As for torque, VG got the 4cyl beat at least 2 times over.

Your 2wd HB weighs a lot less than a 4x4 king cab.

the camper shell and hi-lift would be the first things I would remove... I may leave the hi-lift, but I'd definately take off the shell until I need it, or I'd look into a lighter-weight design... like the Can-Backs...
