"Nissan has initiated this window regulator Warranty Etension to cover repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship in this system for a period of up to five (5) years from the vehicle in-service date or 60,000 miles whichever occurs first. Should your vehicle require a window regulator repair, Nissan will replace the window regulators in all four doors of Altima and Xterra models. For Frontier models, Nissan will replace the Window regulators in the front doors only. The rear doors of Crew Cab models are not affected.

Because extended high temperature conditions affect the window regulators, in the following warm weather areas of the United States window regulators will be replaced:

Alabama
Arkansas
Arizona
Southern California
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Missouri
Mississippi
N. Carolina
New Mexico
Nevada
Oklahoma
S. Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Utah"

Maybe that is why my passenger window rattles. Do you have a service bulletin # I can bring to my dealer? Is this for certain years or does it go back to 98-00 models as well? Thanks.

LOL - DR are you still asleep? You have manual rolling windows in the Meany - meaning no window regulator. This recall is for power windows.

If you love something set it free.
If it comes back, it will always be yours.
If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to begin with.

But, if it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it free.....
You either married it or gave birth to it !!

I can't find any TSB #, but I have this:

http://www.infinitinews.com/corporate/recalls/relnissannews20031211110046.shtml

quote:
2001-2002 Nissan Altima, Frontier and Xterra Window Regulator Service Campaign [Dec. 11, 03]

"Nissan North America is conducting a service campaign on approximately 270,000 model year 2001-2002 Nissan Altima, Frontier and Xterra vehicles. On certain model year 2001 Nissan Altima vehicles manufactured prior to July 13, 2001 and certain model year 2001-2002 Frontier and Xterra vehicles manufactured prior to September 16, 2001, the window regulator may not operate properly. The primary cause of this issue is the regulator may fatigue and break under extended high temperature operating conditions. If this occurs, the power windows will no longer function. To correct this condition, Nissan will replace window regulators of affected vehicles registered in certain areas that are known to experience extended high temperatures. For affected vehicles registered in areas not known for extended high temperatures, Nissan will extend warranty coverage for the window regulators to a period of five years from the original date of purchase or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Owners of potentially affected vehicles will be notified via mail beginning on January 12, 2004. Nissan is committed to a high level of customer safety and service and will be working closely with its dealers to promptly address this condition."

Please direct any media inquiries to Eric Booth, Nissan Corporate Communications at 310/771-3014.

AS far as manual rollup windows, I believe the regulator is the same( almost) it just has a motor.

I tore off my door panel and took a look at mine. The door track ( regulator)in the center can be adjusted. Only problem is that out of 4 mounting holes only one is slotted. Theory being that by moving the whole track over additional life can be gotten out of the nylon/delrin rubbing block. AS that block wears, the window gets the rattles.
MOve the track over and you take up the slack and eliminate the rattle.
Stealer wants 80$ for new regulator- they don't just sell you the guide block smiley35

Time to break out the dremel and slot the mounting holes.
