In more ways than one Razz

I need to do something to the rear of the truck for suspension. I need approx 4-5" of lift than what I have now.

I thought about getting new rear springs for a stock 2wd truck, and running some revolvers and longer shocks and brake lines... Then I would use small lift blocks to get the rest of the height that I need. From the research that I have done, I have found that alot of people like the 2wd springs because they are pretty flexy. I figure those, coupled with revolvers, would give me some serious flex. Stock 2wd springs run $150 a piece. (about what I paid for the Rancho 44044 springs for the front).

The other option would be to use stock 4wd springs (same price as the 2wd ones), run some longer shackles, and maybe small lift blocks to dial it in.

Or go full custom... If I go this route, I am expecting to pay close to 500 bux for the springs. I would still have to invest in shackles and all the other stuff.

Gimmie your input Wink

Get the Calmini 2 pack AAL's for an Xterra and some longer shackles. Much cheaper.

That is an option... if I do what I was thinking, I would be spending about 300 for springs, and another 180 for revolvers. However, with that setup, I would be getting TONS of suspension travel.

The AALs and longer shackles will cost approx 200 or so, but I don't think I would get near the amount of travel. This would also give me approx 3" of lift over what I have now, provided I use the Calmini shackles as well.

I dunno, that's why I asked for input lol Thanks Andy.

Longer shackles will give you lots of flex. I'm not a big fan of revolvers.

If I go the AAL route, should I get my springs re-arched, or just roll with it? They are pretty bad now... as a matter of fact, they are almost negatively arched, ask John, lol

If you get the urge to go custom:
I have seen that Deaver has produced a spring pack for the X which I assume would also fit the fronty, that is a thick 10 pack that gives a true 3" lift in the rear coupled with some shackles may give you the 5" you desire. They are also expensive from what I hear ~ $500 Eek
Here is a pic:

Yeah, I saw that SLR has 9 and 10 leaf packs for the frontier and X. I figured 500 would be about right for a custom pack like that. However, I would still have to get shackles made and get the correct length shock (which I would have to do anyway). So, I can see this route setting me back close to 1k for everything.

Thanks for the link, I will have to check it Wink

X springs are longer than Fronty springs. Andy says to just bolt up the AAL's...they'll add arch to the packs.

and i would totally ditch the block idea unless it is temporary...no reason not to get longer shackles to compensate

I have a brand new set of Rancho AAL's for a 95 HB KC I would part with for $50. I would assume they are the same ones used on the Frontiers, but that would be up to you to verify.

On the Hardbodies, the spring packs for 2wd and 4wd are identicle except that the 4wd has an extra overload spring, They're pretty flat right from the factory.

Installed my new Calmini AAL yesterday. I didn't install the chackles cause it pretty much leveled out. I will install the chackles when the springs settle a little... Plus, I need new rear bushings. Mine are pretty much shot.

Mongo looks really kewl. I will try to snap a coupla picks sometime today...
