What kind of truck?

I did my lift on my 99 Frontier in about 5 hours with the help of a friend that has done it before...

If you are inexperianced, it usually takes the weekend for a lift. Typically 10 hours or so. I am not sure on how long a lift would take, maybe 5 plus hours?

4-door pathy.

It doesn't take a whole lot of skill. You just gotta loosten all the body mounts and then figure out what parts need to be loostened so that they won't break when the body moves up. This would include brake lines, maybe a radiator hose(depending on what you decided to do with it), steering shaft, blah blah blah.

I helped out my buddy do a 3" AC susp lift, then a 3" BL on his HB. The susp was much easier. It took us a full week to get everything tweaked. The kit was a little messed up I think. Lots of extra parts....

I bet you could get it done in a weekend since it's only 2" and so there would be less ghetto fab to be done Big Grin

I am so toying with the idea of a 2" BL...

One question; I've seen that the tcase shifter moves down with the kit... Why would that move down and not the tranny shifter? I'm already thinking about taking round stock and getting busy with a tap and die to extend it back to normal height. No biggie - just curious.

Gosh, I forgot about the shifters Doh!

The Tcase shifter might need to be dealt with but I'm not sure. It might depend on the truck. This goes for the manual trann shifter too. They might hit the metal on the floor, so you either bend/extend them or cut the hole in the floor wider. It's not really a big deal.

In D21s, The auto tranny uses a cable and doesn't need to be messed with thankfully. If for some reason you have a short cable, there is a way to adjust it. I assume it's the same for D22s.

If you look on one of the other post about my 2" BL. It doesn't take much. I still have to bend/cut things to go into 4/Lo. But I still haven't put my tires and Susp. Lift on yet. Is yours 5sp or Auto?

its a 5 speed. i owouldnt drive anything else. but yeah what im thinking is that Im gogi to get some 31 mud tires and put a three inch lift on for kicks and for some added insurance for whn i go offroading. The lift will have to wiat, unless I really feel like gogin all out and going wiht 32's. My uncles a mastr at cars so with his help you think I could get the suspension and body lift on in a weekend?

Oh yeah. With a car lift and the right tools...it could be done in a day. It took me so long because I was working around my bumper instead of removing it, I was working by myself with only a floor jack to lift the body. When I put the Susp. lift on I will be using a car lift. If your going with a 3" BL I'd go with 32"s. But it is preference only. 31's will get you a little better gas mileage.

What are the disadavntages of body lifts? Will it make my steering ware faster? Anything that cause problems with a 3 inch b/l?

A body lift itself won't wear your steering any faster.

They just allow room for bigger tires. It literally lifts the body off your frame.

Wouldn't lifting the body cause the steering to lift also since it is atatched to the wheel.

Body is not atatched to the wheels or the steering. Body is attached to the frame, steering is attached to the frame, wheels are attached to the frame. Body is lifted off the frame with spacers...other pieces stay put, attached to the frame.
