I am checking into doing a body lift on my 2000 Frontier. I checked on AC and they have a 2" that is right in my price range. But it says that it is made for people with aftermarket bumpers. Whats up with that? For the 3" is that EVERYTHING that I will need or am I still going to have to get other stuff. Will the 2" work for me even though I dont have an aftermarket bumper. It seems that it would be allot easier to install then the 3". What do you think???

Some people have had problems installing the 3" b-lift but I had none at all. I say go with the PA 3' lift. You can save some money on shipping alos if you buy the kit from a local 4x4 shop. I got mine at Off Road Warehouse here in SD.

I'll check local shops. Where can I find them on-line. I checked Cal Mini and SLR and couldn't find any there. Ac has one. Where else on-line can I find them?

My opinion would be 2" might be a better idea unless you really need the clearence. The 3" is a lot more work and you will need to replace some hoses in addition. Also there is a notciable gap with the rear bumper with the 3" you would need to fab some kind of bracket to lift it up. That being said, I have the 3" and it was a pain but without it I would not be able to run 35s... Good luck.

Yeah. The 2" looks easier and has fewer mods. But whats up with the AC bumper thing for their 2". For you AZ people: any local shops sell 2"? I'n not looking for too much lift just want 31" with some room. But I am looking for the cheepest route. I had Stone tell me to do t bar adjustments and shackles. How does that compare to a 2" lift. What would I need to do that.

That is better alternative if you just want 2 inches, shackles are only $40-$60 and cranking the t- bars will only cost you an alignment afterward ($30-$70) depending on where you go...

So would that cover the front and rear. Where in the East valley do I go to get shackles? Any good 4X4 shops out here.

Yes, The shackles are for the rear, You crank up the T-bars to lift the front... Not sure about east valley shops... I'm a west-sider

I have the 2" body lift. Sometimes I wish I'd have gone 3", but most of the time I happy with. Why would I want 3"? To fit 34 or 35 inch tires. My 2" body lift, fender trimming, and other mods have made room for 33's, but I get that itch go 34x10.5 or 35x10.5 but can't fit them w/out some firewall clearancing (which I have seriously thought about!). The nicest part about the 2" though, is the fact that few mods need to be made, and w/the Hardbody, my body is only 4" off the frame instead of 5" (Harbodies come w/a factory 2" body lift over the Pathfinders and 2wd trucks).

I agree with doing the 2" instead of 3". I don't know if you're still considering this or not, and I don't have any experience with doing body lifts on Frontiers, but I still don't think that 1 extra inch will be worth it in the long run. When I put a 3" body lift on my Hardbody, I technically didn't have any problems... but there were a lot of annoying little "issues" that were created because 3" was just too much for many of the brake lines/hoses/steering stuff etc. to handle without modifications of some sort. With the 2" body lift on my Hardbody, things just didn't seem as tweaked and seemed more within the realm of being safe. Like NissanProject said, Nissans, especially Hardbodies, came from the factory with a (un?)healthy dose of body lift anyway, but when you add another three inches to that, the bottom of the cab ends up being 1/2"=1" above the top of the frame. Not too good in my opinion.
Having said all that, Frontiers seem to sit lower on the frame in stock form, so a 3" body lift might not be as bad. But I'd personally still do a 2" if I had to choose. '99 ext. cab V6, with four driven wheels Edit: no more Nissans... now have a diesel Toyota. |

I used the 2" and its great! Not too hard to do tho I highly recommend that you have someone helping you. Mike over at AC even checks email on weekends so if you get stuck just email away and you'll likely get an answer by the end of the day.
I didn't need the radiator drop bracket or any new hoses....the only relocating thing I had to do was to disconnect the AC/break lines from the firewall and relocate the power steering resivoir...ummm and get an extended line for the front diff breather (reached thru the fender) The whole job took like 8 hours w/ 2 of us working on it. You can do the suspension lift in way less time, that just involves changing the coils (for a Pathfinder) or (maybe a)add a leaf for a Hardbody or Xterra and new upper A-Arms...new torsions are optional. That seems to be the easiest thing to do. I just didnt want to get into re-locating EVERYTHING. Nothing for the transfer case or tranny? All right. Thanks for your input.

quote: Nope. Even w/'86.5 to '92 Trailmaster suspension lifts, the parts that are dropped are the front diff, and torsion bar crossmember. Tranny/X-fer case stays where it's at. All other IFS lifts are just torsion bar lifts w/new coils, or new shackles/add-a-leafs. Isaac 1993 Nissan Hardbody 4-cyl 4x4 SAS & dual cases 1/2 complete!
