Possibly. One quick way to find out, is to put your stock ones back one.

I got some bigger tires From 235 to 31" MT plus the shackles and it raised my trk about 2.5" in the rear. I think my springs are too soft for the larger tires. I cannot put the stock tires back on cause they are off the rims.

Do you have blocks under the rear springs? Longer shackles should not make your truck shake.. So you have any kind of a traction aid?

longer shackles can alter the pinion angle though. Could be gettign some driveline vibes from misaligned U joints.

I have 7" shackles on my '98 and don't have this problem. What you describe sounds more like clutch chatter to me since you say it's doing it until you're off the clutch. Is the clutch old?

I didnt think about the clutch.. that could be it. The flywheel may have some burned spots on it. I had an old Datsun that had this problem.

Take the flywheel to a machine shop and they'll resurface it for you.

Frown I gues it's clutch time. I was hopping for something simple. Is the napa brand clutch a good one or do i need to get OEM for it? time to get the book out on clutch replacement; never done it before. Thanks for the info,

I would look a little further. I got a 110K on my stock clutch. Depending how you ride your clutch it can last up to 160K.

Sorry I didn't check this thread sooner. There is one possibility that was not mentioned directly; driveshaft phasing.

Have you recently had your driveshaft apart at the carrier bearing? If so, you may have putt it back together "out of phase". That will cause the vibration that you are describing. An our of phase conditions will only be felt in first and (possibly) second gear.

It's a fine line between clever and stupid.
