I need new shocks all the way around, I still have the original Nissan adjustables. I think they are stuck in the offroad or stiff mode. Anyways, I want to ditch them for a decent set of shocks.

So whats good out there, I'm not looking for anything fancy like the Rancho 9000s, just good, nice riding shocks with good offroad ability.

Rancho 5000s will work well, but also look into Procomps and Duetsch-Tech as well. All are good shocks. You could also spend a little more and get some Bilsteins, which I hear are excellent shocks too.

Anybody know a good place to buy shocks? I'm kinda leaning towards the Rancho, but would like to find a nice price on Blistens.

I know you can get the ranchos cheap at the Desert Rat on 19th Ave. I got my 9116s there for about $50 each. The 5000s will be much less.. closer to $30 each. Might check to see if they sell Bilsteins as well.

Please don't get the pro crap 3000 series. I ran those once and they suck.

Blew out quickly, too temp sensitive, and just flat out rode crappy. Get a better pro-comp shock if you decide to go with that brand.

My Rancho 9116s have been great so far.. I'd like to move to some 9112s though with the new springs I'm getting

I agree with John, the 9116 give a little more flex and seem to ride really well with a pathy. I say if you can, go with a better shock.

if your going to spend the extra on 9000s then don't bother and get the bilsteins....

and is it the 3000s or 9000s that are exactly the same as rancho 5000s?

I'm pretty sure everyone compares the 3000 procraps to the Rancho 5000. Definately not the 9000.

The thing I like about the Rancho 9000s is the ability to dial in exactly the amount of dampening the suspension needs based on how much weight is in the truck. I've found myself wheeling with it set anywhere from 3 to 5 depending on how much stuff I've got in the truck. They dampen really well though and so far mine have been working great almost 2 years without a hitch.

If the Bilsteins allow that as well, thats cool.. but I find the adjustability necessary when my truck's wheeling weight can vary by 1000lb or more.

I just ordered some Procomps from Summit Racing and they should be here in a few days. They were recommended to me by various people. I am gonna run ES9000s up front and ES3000s out back. I figure that because the front of a truck is so much heavier, that should work well. We shall see.

TJL runs ES3000s and 95HardbodyXE (or whatever Les's AC name is) runs ES9000s.

I'll be back in a week to tell you how they feel Big Grin

I'm gonna get 5000s(from whatever company)for the front and rs9116s for the back. I'm gonna check out my local 4x4 shop to get some prices on monday I hope. Working 12 hour days and commuting an hour each way screws up my free time Roll Eyes

I bet that shop is expensive. This would be that same shop that says there aren't any lifts for 1995 HBs...

I just order everything I can from Summit Racing. Their prices are competitive and their service is top notch. I don't mind if I pay 5 or 10 bucks more for the assurance that my crap will get here 3 or 4 days after I order it and all.

$33.95 for Procomp 9000
$31.95 for Procomp 3000
$39.95 for Rancho 5000

Those boots on the ranchos must be really nice or something Roll Eyes That and the sticker on the side. Other than that, i hear they're the same shocks as the $31.95 ranchos
