First I want to say what a great site this is, and I have been reading here every chance I got for the last 6 months or so. All of the people here (with a few exceptions, there always are) are a huge help and have more collective knowledge than I could ever hope to attain.

I do have one question though, I have done some research on lift kits for my truck, and I have come to the conclusion I want a calmini kit. But their kit says V6 2wd. I have a 4 banger. Is there a difference and if so, what is it?

Yeah there is a difference...

The v6, desert runner, and 4wd trucks all have the same suspension. They have different control arms than our 2wd poseur mobiles. Wink

I have a fabtech kit left over from when I did my SAS. They are the upper control arms and the torsion bars. I wanted to get 300 for all the parts. You would need to buy new balljoints tho.

Lemmie know if you would be interrested in it. Wink I go up to Phoenix at least once a month during a weekend.

Yep, the Calmini kit isn't for your application.

I knew there was a reason I joined this site. I post, go cruise around the site for a few min, come back and BAM 2 replies. Awesome!

Fabtech? Ill have to go look at their stuff, never really heard of them before. What parts exactly do you have Greg? Maybe you could email me a pic or something? You dont have any of the rear stuff, is that my correct understanding?

Thanks so much guys

Dan,

I have the upper control arms and the torsion bars... you would need to pick up balljoints and new shocks. I guesstimate an additional 200 or so for balljoints and shocks, but I dunno.

If you want, I can take a pic for you when I get home from work, but you will see the exact same thing if you find it on their site.

I don't have anything for the rear. Calmini sells add a leafs that I would recommend. I like mine. Wink

Maybe its just me, but those ucas dont look as sturdy as the calmini ones. But then again neither do the ac ones, and Ive heard they are just fine. I will keep you in mind, next paycheck should have more wiggle room. Damn uncle sam.

On a side note, what do you have done to the rear of your truck? It looks higher than just a aal.

Also, do you know where I could locate a modified dist cap? I heard jacobs had one, but I couldnt find it anywhere. I want to be able to use an external coil if possible.

Thanks

The UCAs are fine... keep in mind, you were looking at the 4wd/v6 ones. Look at your stock ones now... they "look" flimsy too.

As far as the rear of my truck is concerned, I have done alot. The axle is an H233B (taken from a desert runner truck). I also converted to spring over, which gave 4 inches of lift, and I added the aals. I also have longer shackles too, but have not gotten around to installing em yet.

For the cap, contact Jacobs. They do have one. However, they do mention sending in yours to be "modified." You could always pick one up from Napa or somewhere and send it to em.

Yeah, that is why I went with Fabtech Wink

I am not going to start "vendor bashing," but they had problems with their A-arms. Mostly alignment/camber issues, and I have even seen one that had the balljoint plate torn out... granted that owner was also using balljoint spacers. Their is also another person on this board who has been waiting for all of their peices to ship out... He has been getting them peice by peice by peice.

Then again, some peeps have not had any problems with theirs.

I think I paid over 6 for everyhing. I picked up from somewhere... I can't remember. I bought roughly a year ago... it might have been from fabtech directly.

Like I said, I will sell you the ucas, bushings, and torsion bars all for $300.

So shocks, new balljoints, and lift for the back would be all I need to "complete" the kit?

Oh, and also you mentioned the calmini aals. Those are listed for the V6 also, I am assuming I cant use those too? Or are the leaf packs the same?

Thank you so much for all your help, as soon as I turn 21, I owe you a beer or something

I just added up all the parts I listed above, and assuming I can use the aal from calmini, it comes to almost 700 bucks. Does fabtech sell parts? Or would it just be cheaper to buy the fabtech kit?
