Looking at doing this on my 91 hb. I drive this truck to work every day 40 miles on hwy. Don't do much offroad stuff , just want the looks and big tires. Would it drive and ride like crap compared to stock? MPG be bad. 4 cyl. 5 speed.

The bigger tires will kill your powerband on the 4 banger.....might consider regearing. You should be OK up to 32"...

mileage will drop anytime you lift and install larger tires. My 6 cyl pathy went from 18mpg down to about 13 after a 3" lift and 32s if that gives you any idea.

Anytime you increasethe frontal area of a truck, which a lift will do, it'll drop your MPG. Large tires take more power to get rolling, and also provide more wind resistance, so they cause the engine to suck more fuel as well.

If you do it, dont do it just for the looks unless you are willing to live with the decreased fuel economy. Personally, I'd rather see a lifted truck being used.... at least go camping once in a while or something. Smile

The speedo will definitely be off, but if you drive conservatively the gas mileage should not be horrible. My 98 4cyl still gets 20+ with 3" susp 3" BL and 33" AT's.

Definitely stiffer ride and more bumpsteer with bigger tires, but you can minimize both of those issues with adjustable shocks ($$$) and steering stabilizer ($$).
