I just replaced my rotors, brake pads, wheel studs, and repacked my bearings and hubs yesterday. took 3 1/2 hours total.
Everything went really well, but for some odd reason everytime I turn the wheel slightly to the driver side I get a loud CLUNK. It seems to be coming from the Upper Ball joint on my SLR A-arms. Any Ideas? I never had any problem with them before yesterday. I have the SLR steering system (not calmini, so not the tyical Idler arm clunk) also not the correct side for that clunk. Also, What vehicle is the replacement Ball joints for the SLR A-arms? I guess I could get them at a local Parts store, just eed to know what they came off of. Thanx Ken O1SalsaX |

4x4 Hardbody ball joints are probably what they use.
Or wheel bearings assembled too loosely would cause the hub and wheel to clunk as it shifts side to side. I'd bet on the balljoints tho. They do wear out. 1998 Frontier 4x4, 2002 Xterra 4x4, and Z28 street rocket Pass here and go on. You're on the road to heaven - Kerouac |

Thanx Andy. The wheel bearings being assembled too loosely makes sense. The noise is coming from (what I thought was the upper Ball joint) but could possibly be that I didnt tighten the wheel bearing enough..
Interesting.. BTW.. Steering stabilizer works really well, thanx again!! L8r Ken |
