Welcome Smile

The Calmini system replaces the entire steering system, except for the outer tie rod ends(the ones that are right next to the wheel).

hope Steve doesn't mind me linking...

you'll use existing tierod ends, and the boots are on those. Sounds like in addition to the kit, you might want to invest in some new TRE's. If they're tight and still hold grease, I'd use them up tho.

I thought that the kit came with new inners, but not new outers.

Dammit, just a couple of hours ago I saw a post on another board that listed a place to get replacement boots for the TREs. Now I gotta go find it again...

The entire outer TRE is pretty cheap, like 20 bucks, that would be better IMO than just replacing the boot.

Downey offroad (yeah, yeah, a 'Yota company, but I have one of their catalogs) has polyurathane TRE boots that are supposed to seal better than stock ones.

They don't have a website to buy from though, but I guess you could call them and get a price that way.

For what it's worth, I plan to use my stock outer's with the steering, because they are in good shape.

Well my steering shipped yesterday I just called up Calmini to see if the kit included TRE outers and I was told that they did. But now I'm wondering. The guy I talked to wasn't sure, had to look it up and said they came with Moog TRE, but I'll bet its only one set for the inners. Damn, another $40 to have to spend to get this steering in.

Only if your outers are no good. I replaced only because they were completely shot.

You don't get new TRE's with the Frontier/X kit...you shouldn't need them unless yours are shot.
