Good point Spike,

However, I believe he's talking about the rear axle.

Hence the need for a SYE. Wink

Oh, dammit.
Goes to show how long it's been since I drove a Nissan. Now that you mention it, the SYE should have been a good clue.

I have the sye and cv driveline. Drilling the hole is a pain. I had a tap removal place drill mine for $50. I drove the truck to a local driveline shop and gave them my stock driveline and let them take measurement. They had it built faster than I could drive to the alignment shop and back. With 1310 u-jounts, it cost only $300. Haven't had any vibration.

Yes. It does it with either of my driveshafts installed, so it's not the shaft. (the new one is 3/4" longer than stock)

Hoping this anecdotal info may apply and be useful...

You've got the identical springs that Robin ordered, correct? If so, then you've got the same springs we've got on the Fronty (Robin had called Alcan and ordered what they made for my GF).

We have no driveline shake and it's got the factory DS with u-joints that I think may even be the originals. Used on multi-state road trips and as a DD commuter (40 miles each way for a while).

That being said, the difference between her truck and yours is that hers is the crew cab, longer 1 piece DS, yes? So I would think the problem is in your angles, right, because the angles in our Fronty are less severe than yours due to the DS length?

Again, don't know if this is of any use or tells you anything you don't know; just wanted to offer up some input because we've been running those springs for a while with no probs.

Hope this helps.

Well, I got the shims flipped around and the rear end bolted back together. The pinion is pointed right at the case now. I need a longer brake line, and the limit strap is now too short, but I might get away with not having to use it with the new driveline.

Dropped the skid plate, knocked the dust cover off the tcase, and removed the cab support hoop for easier access. Hopefully the SYE goes in Saturday. Then I can measure for my new CV shaft.

The standard 1310 bolt holes on the SYE are just slightly off what it is on the 233 rear pinion, which is a bummer. I hope the driveline shop I'm using can get a shaft end with the right pattern.

Someone had mentioned axle wrap. I assume that this is a SOA setup. It would seem that you need to make sure that it is the driveshaft and not axle wrap. I would do this by removing the rear DS and driving in front wheel drive. Now I wouldn't go anywhere close to 60mph in this setup, but I would feel conformable with going to 35mph. That way you can see if its axle wrap or DS.

Axle wrap is caused by the transfer of torque from the driveshaft to the rear axle and the transfer of torque to the ground. With the the rear driveshaft removed, there wouldn't be any axle wrap, and nothing to cause it.

Didn't the White Mess have the rear differential pointed at the t-case but run a standard driveshaft, at highway speeds?
