I am planning on lifting truck and I have been looking into the different after market torsion bars and they are all stiffer. But his would just reduce the travel of the front end even more. I don’t have or plan on installing a large heavy front bumper. Do the torsion bars have to be stiffer in order to hold the lifted ride height? Is there any place other than Nissan that sells stock stiffness torsion bars? I wont pay the $230 per bar that Nissan wants. Thanks

I don't have stiffer ones....

but, from what I hear they ride fine. Travel shouldn't be affected. They can support the weight longer before they sag.

I can't think of anybody who sells them other than Nissan. If you need new tbars, you might as well get the stiffer ones.

Stiffer bars do not affect travel at all.

If you want the stock rate, why not just stick with the ones you have? If they need to be replaced (broken, sagging excessively), you could always search the junkyards for replacements.

You don't have to swap t-bars to lift the truck.

I've lifted the front of my '95 HB with the stock t-bars, using Superlift a-arms, and I'm very happy with their performance. I do have a heavy front bumper with a Hi-Lift mounted to it, and heavy sliders. The ride is very soft, almost disconcerting while on pavement, but offroad the truck rides like a hovercraft. I personally wouldn't like it any stiffer, but that's me. I would suggest trying your stock torsion bars- they don't limit the amount of lift you can achieve, the a-arms do that. Re-indexing the t-bars should make up for any sag. If you don't like it, then at least you know what you're looking for.

I broke my stock bars years ago on a rock (hirline fracture in winter: drove 5 hours back home, anmd woke up w/the truck crooked from the broken bar!). If U are even THINKING about rocks, save yourself the hassle and get the Sway-A-Ways. Well worth it. I dragged those things over everything! Just ask the person who bought them from me! He'll attest to the abuse they went through (and are still good for another couple years!).
