I have a 1994 Hardbody XE, 6 cylinder currently have 3 inch suspension, 3 inch body, and am thinking about adding the Trailmaster 4 inch kit. Can anyone tell me how this kit is to install? 10 inches would be sweet. Everyone thinks it is a Toyota, but #@$% them.

Not to many people use that kit around here. It leaves the TBs way to exposed under the truck. Mix that with rocks and your driving home with 2x4s holding your truck up.
Ive never installed it myself but I seem to remember you need the diff drop kit to keep the CVs from exploding. Ive seen lifts stacked like that, over on the AC board a guy had them all BL, SL and TM lift. he was running somethig like 38s on it, looked realy stupid to me...others seemed to like it. Do you have upgraded steering? I saw a video of said truck and the front end was all over the place. Is your truck off-roaded much or more for show? It's a bolt on kit, if that's what you're asking...it uses drop bracketry to lower the front axle and crossmembers, as well as the torsion bar cross member. You can get about 9" of lift using the combination of all lifts, but to curry's point, you NEED a stronger steering solution. The kit uses spacers to keep tierod angles somewhat normal...they stack on top of the spindle. IMO, that's the worst aspect of the kit due to the leverage placed on those parts.

I used the 4" trailmaster lift with new upper control arms and 3 inch rear coils and for the past year everything has been working well. However, I'm not into severe rock climbing more of a trail person.

I ride in mud and trails, minimal rock crawling because there is no rock up here.

I have the trailmaster lift now with the AC lift stacked. The torsion bars have not been to big of a problem although I have scraped them alot. The steering has been a problem and I have went to the SLR steering. You have to cut down the TRE's and ajusters and if you have to borrow one on a trail cutting it down could be a problem. To answer your original question tho, it is not to bad to install, I did it by myself for the most part. Brad |
