The center located limiting strap is a helluva good idea. Thanks for that. I may go that route.

Now...where to buy? And what do I need to buy?

Welp, I went and bought some new Procomp ES9000 shocks that were about 3" longer this morning and got those bolted up and finally got it on a test drive.

Driveline vibrations from 10-20mph. I talked to Datz and the next step there is to measure the pinion angle relative to the Tcase output and get the apporpriate shims to correct it. I'll probably get the driveshaft retubed too to be an inch or so longer.

I also looked into limiting straps while down at 4 Wheel Parts....they have them in varying lengths in sets of two for around $40. I found a good place to mount them too...I'll drill a hole in the back of the Calmin diff skid bucket for the bottom, and there's a nice crossmember straight above it for the upper end, so it's just a matter of getting the right lengths.

I need to pull the diff skid off though, and massage it, as the Ubolts are shot, as are the holes they go through. I'll need new Ubolts and I need to make a bracket for the Ubolts on top of the axle so I can flip them and put the threaded ends up.

More work, but the end result should be sweet.

Went to HF and got me a $3 angle finder.

I've got some rear driveline vibe.

I'm between 10-11 degrees tilted up on the rear pinion, and about 4 degrees on the Tcase output. What's the margin here? I think I can get shims up to 6 degrees, that'd make it close, but the pinion would still be pointed up a tad more.

Sound about right?

Or....the pinion now is pointing just about straight up the driveshaft. Has anyone ever seen/heard of someone building a slip yoke driveshaft with a CV on the slip yoke end?

Do you have a CV shaft in the rear? If so you want to make it so that there is very little deflection in the rear universal joint. I think it's +-4 degrees.

If you don't have a CV drive shaft then you want the angles to be approximately the same.

I don't have a CV shaft now but was thinking about having one made. I understand that the pinion needs to be at roughly the same angle as the shaft if using one.

What I wanted to know was, is there any issue on using a CV joint with a slip yoke?

NO, NO, NO,...that's why everyone puts a slip yoke on : For easy removal from trail if D-shaft gets broken (as well as not spilling fluids everywhere) AND : to put on a CV D-Shaft. Later...

Kdawg, I assume you meant a slip yoke eliminator kit....yeah...I don't really want one of those. You end up with a heavy vibrating driveshaft otherwise.

A CV coming off the stock slip is possible, but with the machine time in there I would have to guess than the SYE kit could be cheaper.

either way I'd need a new driveshaft.

Machine time? Isn't there a standard 1310 CV available that could use my slip yoke end?
