Hey guys here are a few pics from last weekend. We got some fresh snow and I had to take the Pat out for some adventure!

My friend's 84 LC came along. But with new tires this time. (he is the one that got stuck in the mud on his lunch break a few months back).

Oh, that last pic I was just playing. (seeing if I could tip it a bit Wink
The Patrol did great. I got a new job up here at NAU so now I have some funds to play with so I'm going to get new valve seats put in the old beast. And I'm making a list of other things that the old Pat needs to get better. I was thinking of painting the truck with rhino liner. Anyone down there in the Valley paint that stuff, colored linex, for a resonable price.

I'd have a nice fresh flat camo job done on it. THe truck looks great... just needs a little paint on it and a little metal work in places.

Yeah Datz,

I agree with the camo color. I just want to be sure this thing never rusts. And for the metal work it is only those old door skins. I have two other doors and they both have solid skins so I'm doing to pull those and then replace the ones I have now. I know I can save a ton of money if I do the body work myself.

what about getting a thorough undercoating job done on it? Zeibart or similar.

Yeah, the Zeibarting of my 79 bronco done back in 1980 is the only reason it is not rusted to death (salt from the Maine coast and snow covered roads), But I have not seen the same kind of quality under sprays today. I suppose it would be worth looking into again, becasue the bottom of my Patrol is rust free. I was thinking about getting my doors fixed, then go down to the same guy that painted my 74 hippie van in PHX. That was a two color job with clear coat for only $600. Then I could just drive that Pat over to an underbody place and have that sprayed. Then at least it would be set for several years.

P-troll!

I say you should have stuck it in the ruts though and punched it, it would go and you have back up incase you got stuck. Wink

ever thought of loosing the top of the hardtop with the monster roof rack? You could fit a simle 2 or 3 bows set up and have canvas just on the top. I actually got a brochure with a factory picture of one like this....funky but cool.

Yeah, the safari top is for the summer. Gets a bit chilly here in the winters. I don't have the garage so I needed the top to keep it dry.

And Ian, trust me, I put it though everything I could find this weekend and it had no problems. I did way better than that land crusier with BFG MT. So of that would be due to driver advantage too I imagine. Both machinces are sweet. On the other hand, I look forward to a closed in soft top option in the future for the Patrol. It would be quite nice.

p-troll

That is kinda what I am talking about. But with the hard top sides and just canvas on the cap. If your heater sucks you can fix that or even upgrade to a nicer one that cranks. Any ways...just an idea.

Well that is an interesting idea. Those pieces above the door windows seem to make the most sense to get if I were to try the canvas cap idea. Yeah, my heater works but my engine never seems to run that hot so the heat does not seem to be too strong. I have a second heater core that has been cleaned so maybe that one will provide more flow.

yea I may exlpore this idea more in the future as tops are getting really hard to get. Good sides can still be had but usually the top is just trashed.

BTW, Jason think how well the old P-troll will do with a locker and 5spd. Just a bit more suspension flex too and you will be eating up more than some TLCs! Big Grin
