Just went driving around and exploring some local unmaintained roads up north.. Took a bunch of artsy shots for backgrounds and websites and stuff like that. Everyone got stuck at one point or another (it's the very evil type of snow right now
Good times. Enjoy. "Soon enough, work and love will make a man out of you Through and through" |

Nobody was "chained" up? I guess you wanted a challenge

Illegal in Ontario, same with studs... which is a shame. "Soon enough, work and love will make a man out of you Through and through" |

It's pretty screwed up in here. You can't even have a trail-rig here for all intensive purposes. Everything has to be street legal and insured, even if you trailer it and never drive on pavement. Obviously if you run on private land it's different. On top of that the insurance companies are doing what they want charging some of the highest premiums around. There has been a lot of cases of insurance companies cancelling policies due to modified vehicles (like suspension)! Oftentimes cops are waiting at trail heads and check for paperwork handing out massive fines if something doesn't check out. Point is we don't screw around with the law here. Studs and chains are banned. Period we leave it at that.

Those are some great pics, it really looks like a lot of fun.
You said: quote: Is that a provincial thing? Is this from an off-road standpoint, or does it apply to highway/mountain pass driving as well? I can't think of a single winter when I lived in North Central Washington state that we didn't have studded snow tires on the car/truck. Load some sandbags in the back, and off you'd go. Chains were best suited for fresh/deep snow, not so much compact snow/ice driving. But to make them illegal? That's just silly. Regards, -matt |
