Steve, Robert, and I had a good day of wheeling today...

Early on in the day, Steve and I came across some other wheelers.. and recognized our own Flawless Fab in the group. It was nice to meet you, Robbie!

We did some scouting of the area between the Saguaro Coves and Lower Sycamore. We thought we had found a trail to connect the two easily via Google Earth & other maps, but it turns out that the particular trail had been closed off. The only way we could find to get between Sycamore and the Coves was via Four Peaks road.

Overall, we had a good time today scouting out lower sycamore. Unfortunately, it got cut short due to problems with my truck, but we had fun. We did find the exit for squeeze rock, which was cool. We took a wrong turn while running it back and ended up on a quad trail which got too narrow after a mile or so.

Robert found a road construction cone on the trail that suited his truck, so it rode on top for the whole day.

Here is Steve going up the wall at Saguaro Lake:

Tooling around in the Coves:

This is part of Sycamore Creek, and happened to be the exit road for Squeeze Rock. Check out the size of the boulders.. the wash is littered with them! Yes, the red mud was stinky.

While exploring some side trails, Steve descends a rock wall:

Robert getting turned around at the top of a dead end trail:

Once we made it around to the southern side of Sycamore Creek, we decided to head north and try to find the entrance to Squeeze Rock.

One of the mud holes we played around in... and subsequently awoke some electrical gremlins in my truck:

Robert makes a splash...

Steve goes for it:

This is what most of the wash looks like once you get in a few miles, although I was noticing that the rocks kept getting bigger, the further we went:

There were quite a few stretches of wide sand wash as well:

Looking north from where we turned around... We'll be headed back up there soon, once I make sure my truck is OK to go.

Goat's rig did really well. I was surprised that mine had issues. Right now, I'm pretty sure that my issues were a result of mud in the alternator and a couple of connectors at the transmission getting wet. The lights havent come back on since. Confused

I got mud in my alternator and didn't clean it out... On the way to work one morning, the truck batt died. I had to get it over to the vehicle maintenance dept, and they power washed my alternator lol Almost immediately, the dash light went out, and I had a charged batt....

Ever since then, I try to avoid mud, but if it is inevitable, I wash the engine bay on the way home from wherever I am wheelin Wink

A quick check of the Service Manual shows that the A/T temp warning, Brake warning, and charge light are all tied together through the Bulb check relay. interesting.

Tim, I'll be around all week in the evenings, except for Friday. Anytime after 5-6pm would be fine with me.
