SuperV3K was just being cautious... there was a steep drop off... drivers side tire was going down and he just wanted to make sure he didn't go down.

Like I said the Tanks will get you... it seams easy and then Boom you go rolling down a hill..

Dan felt I could drive out of it. From my perspective in the truck, it was hard to tell - all I could see was air under the tire. Rather than risk rolling back an inch or two, or spinning a tire, I asked to just get a tug forward to make sure I wouldn't roll back when letting off the brake and getting on the gas.

Dan was going to strap me forward, but the shackles he had were too big to fit in the tow points on my truck. So, we got Lee to use the winch instead.

(Note to self - need to get some shackles for the front of the truck...)

Once I felt the winch line tighten up and start to pull on the truck, the truck was able to pull forward under it's own power.

Regards,

-matt

Ya really need a good tow hook. I hooked onto one of the DOT tiedown points. These are NOT SAFE for rescues, but for this particular application I took a calculated risk - not too much pull was applied...
