This was a great run. It was just Andy (Desert Rat) and I on the run.. so we had a lot of fun out on the trail. We did a lot of exploring down in the river wash.. and had fun splashing through the Hassayampa river in the box canyon. This river runs underground for most of its length, and at times comes up from underground and runs across the top of the sandy wash. This can be treacherous if you arent careful. Quicksand can get you stuck pretty good, but we didnt run into any of it this time.

After we explored the box canyon, which included checking out some local mines and mining ruins, we headed out toward the old Stanton Ghost town trail. This trail runs past 3 ghost towns: Octave, Weaver, and Stanton, which are all north of the Hassayampa river 10-15 miles or so. We saw quite a few old buildings and foundations up there, but didnt get to explore them due to clearly posted No Tresspassing signs.

On the way out from seeing the Octave ghost town ruins, we happened across a couple in a Buick Century coming down the 4wd trail at us. eek hahaha. They were lost, so I told them to turn around RIGHT NOW and follow us out of the rough section they had gotten into. It figures, they were from out of state and I guess were looking for a shortcut to Wickenburg or something. It was pretty hilarious though seeing this front wheel drive car out on that gnarly section of trail.

After the run, Andy came by the house and we welded Mikey's old rock sliders to his truck's frame. They fit perfectly, which goes to show that the Frontier/Xterra frame is based off the old Pathfinder. Exact same dimensions!!!

Pics of the run to be posted soon. Sorry, you'll have to wait for pics of Andy's truck cause I didnt get any with the new sliders on.

This is part of the box canyon near the mining ruins. There was some mining equipment up over the hill here and mines behind me. Just to show the sheer size of the canyon you can see my truck:

A really old tree we found at a kickass campsite in the canyon:

My new modified "high speed" antenna. The angle allows my truck to go faster up hills. The trees broke it:

Andy in the sand wash on the Hassayampa:

Andy crawling up some boulders in the wash:

Good thing he has skidplates:

Andy splashing through the river in Box Canyon:

Me splashing too:

Meet Mr Stick Bug. This guy found his way into my truck. They are really funny looking things. This is the first one I've seen here in Arizona. Oh yeah, he has a pincher on his ass too, so watch out:

Andy lifting a wheel near the Octave ghost town:

My truck trying to lift a wheel near the Octave ghost town:

One hardcore Buick Century wheeling the trail:

F&*$, I should have gone with you guys. I thought you were doing that Sat??? Great pics as usual, I like the one of Meany with the splash. The truck just looks real blue or something and it looks like you had to have gotten soaked.

I had that Xtreme thing anyway....

Man, I'm everywhere. Friday afternoon (in the middle of work)ran Bulldog. Sat was the Home Inspector, Cardinal game, sleep in the Marina parking lot at Pleasant, do the 3:30 a.m. set up thing....

Yeah, the river wash wasn't really difficult, but there were a couple playgrounds that offered up some fun hillclimbs. Also, we kept going up river past the main trail...Some of it was trail blazing maybe...:D, but we were in the river wash itself, so we were still treading lightly. ATV's had been in the area at least. The rocks up there were fun.

That dumbass in the Buick almost got stuck going back out of there. That was FUNNY! I was a little humiliated using 4lo and then seeing a Buick. He flogged it getting out of there though.

As usual, I took a lotta pics too, but again we wait. (35mm)

The sliders are SWEEEEEET! Anyone who comes wheeling Friday will have the chance to check them out. They look much better on my truck than they did on Mikey's because Mikey's truck is so ugly....LOL

MUAHAHAHAHA!! Yeah, they look nice on your truck.. and should work really well too. Just dont ever plan on taking them off. That'll take some work after the welds I laid on there. wink

Those sliders are legendary. Even Mikey was unable to break them.

Nope, your frame is longer and you got that big ugly thing in front of your rear spring hanger....you'd need a set specifically made for your frame.

Well, you might as well all bow down to me. Thanks to John and his good welding touch, I now have the most indestructible set of sliders on the planet. They even held ME jumping up and down on them. I'll post some pics later.

THANKS JOHN!!!!!!

The big low hanging bulge in the frame right ahead of where the front of the leaf spring mounts. Same thing Xterras have.
