First off, no pictures cause we planned on taking them on the way out, but that didn't happen.

Me and my dad in my Pathfinder and a friend in his jeep took off about 2pm for a run to Martinez Cabins. Filled up with gas in Gold Canyon and hit Florence and turned off on the wrong road (unknown to us at the time lol). Had some fun going through a canyon that had water running though it (we later found out it was Box Canyon) and didn't think anything of it until we got to some big obstacles that I couldn't do in my Pathy. This is where we figured out the we weren't on the right road. We turned around and found a road that we thought headed in the right direction, which later turned out to be Martinez Spring Trail (or something like that). About an hour and some obstacles later, we ran into a Durango and an Xterra that were coming the other direction and informed us that the road we were on eventually led to the Coke Ovens. This was not where we wanted to go, and they needed help finding the way out of the mountains.

So we turned around and headed back the way we came in, relying on my memory (and their inaccurate GPS). We had no problems until we got back into the canyon when the Durango wedged his door against a rock and got a gnarly dent. The Xterra did amazing for being stock with sliders.

After chasing a small herd of calves for about a mile we made it out to the main road where we split up from the Durango and Xterra (but not before telling them about this site and a few others). We stopped in Florence for some gas and food and headed home from there.

We finally made it home about 12:30, with no damage other than a headlight bulb and some tire rub. All in all, I was very very surprised at how well my Pathy did and that it did everything I asked of it with no questions.

Like I said in the beginning, there were no pictures because we intended to take them on the way out, but by that time we were too tired and it was night time, so no pictures.

The two times I went to Martinez Cabins we ran through Box Canyon on the way there, then ran down to to the Coke Ovens. Sounds like you were on the right trail, you just missed the turn off.

Interesting. I'll have to go try it again some time and see if I can find the right road.
