Here are some of the pics from the Payson trip we did today. We went out in search of some snow (yes, we have snow here in AZ!) and found some! We also found a LOT of mud too, as most of the snow was melted. frown We all had a total blast though, and actually hit two trails.

The first trail is I believe FR74 from the Control road north of payson, south to SR87. It has a cool sign at the entrance declaring it "Hazardous to Public Use". Most of this trail is pretty tame, but there are a few cool obstacles. One is a spot that is pure gumbo mud and involves a short hillclimb, descent, and then a sharp right turn into a very slick offcamber spot that puts you into a ditch that you have to crawl through. There is also a sweet shelf road with some spectacular views as you descend down into the valley.

The second trail takes off from SR87 south of the Tonto Natural Bridge landmark and heads south through the mountains to hook back up with SR87 near Rye. This trail was fun, as it was very muddy, and had a few snow-covered steep hillclimbs that you had to use a bit of throttle to get up. Some spots had over 6" of snow.

Here are the pics:

MMMMmmmm mud:

Taking a break:

Andy flexing through a washed out part of the trail:

Me in my truck, flexing it about as much as it'll go (all 4 on the ground though!):

Marshall testing his flex (note Jim straddling the rut in the background!):

Steve getting some nice air:

Jim tried straddling the rut, a very tricky prospect.. and managed to slide in on the side of his truck:

Spooling the winch out!

Jim's muddy Frontier:

Check out the bed!.. Now that's mud!

My truck, muddy (just cleaned the headlights though):
