How can I fit 32's on a 02 QX4 with a 2" suspension lift? I have 16" wheels with a 4.5 inch backspacing. I don't know if it will clear. If not, do I need a .5 inch wheel spacer? Someone please let me know.
Thanks

32s are going to be tough. I had to cut a lot of sheetmetal to fit 32s on my 95 Pathfinder with 3" suspension lift. They were rubbing badly behind the front wheels and behind the rear wheels on bumps.

I know Dean Thayer has at least 32s on his pathy now, yours could be done similarly.

dean had to trim his fenders back pretty good to clear the 32s.

The 2" lift for a R50 actually makes about 3" at first. BurgPath was running 31" ATs without any problems. 32s would be a stretch though.

that's with the lift and 31's.... 32's are a lot of work... Dean didn't cut his fenders, he rolled 'em.

datz510, looks like Dean Thayer has a 4" backspacing and it barely clears the strut. The wheels I'm going to get will have a 4.5" backspacing. The tires are actually 31.5" tall. I've heard that it will barely work. But, I'm still worried about rubbing the strut.

92PathSE, the lift is actually going to be 3" at first. How long before it settles down? What backspacing did BurgPath have on his setup?

I would go see a tire shop and ask if they could test fit a 4.5 backspaced wheel on your truck (doesnt have to have a tire on it.. but it would help). That way you'll know for sure if it will work or not. If the wheel hits the strut tower, theres really nothing you can do other than to change to a different backspaced wheel. I would really advise against wheel spacers on a truck.

Why are wheel spacers bad on our trucks?

I'm not sure how high his is now. It's been about 6 months since the install. I'll email him and tell him to come over here and answer it for you...

Hey, hows it going?

I have AR 767s on the truck. You can get them at Pep Boys for a good price, no shipping. Smile They are 4.5" backspaced. I run my 31X10.5 R15 ProComp MTs without rubbing, even if well stuffed. My next MTs will be 32s as I really think I can run that size, especially since I normally air down to 20 PSI, that will cut 1/2 inch or more off the height. Width shouldn't be a problem.

I bought ACs (www.4x4parts.com) 'stiff' springs. The front ones are geared to support more weight, like if you add a TJM bull bar. I got a bit more lift out of them when I installed them since I hadn't added the bull bar. Now that I have and the springs have settled I've lost a bit of lift. Maybe 1/2 inch or so.

I've been pleased with the results but driving the truck takes some getting used to. Smile

Thanks BurgPath, Do you think that wheels with a 4.5" backspacing will fit on mine without rubbing? 02 QX4 running 275/70/16's, about 31.5"

What's weird about driving it now that it's lifted?

Without the lift you will likely rub on turns, its an annoying sound for sure! With the lift it should work unless you stuff the wheel.

The springs make our grocery getter ride rougher. It will have more bounce, ride much more truck like. No bad, just takes getting used to.
