Right, thats the plan. No, longer links wont be needed... they angle more obviously, but its nowhere near severe. For the moment, my friend is going to be doing the preliminary testing, but afterwords we may send out one or two more test kits for people to try.

On the subject of rear links... Phil and I were dicussing replacement I-beam lower-links for all you poor fellas who keep bending the crap outa them on rocks. Just thought I would fill you guys in on the pipeline.

That was right before my welding skills matured, but 1/8" thick plate and .120 wall dom is strong enough for those loads. The bolts were enlarged to 1/2" grade 8... all 6 of them, way over kill.

*thinking aloud*

I wonder what you guys used to extend the steering shaft from the front box down to the R&P....that would be my only holdup with the design. (edit, figured that part out...)

This setup is going to be great for most people unfortunatly it will gain the owner no more articulation. Although, the ground clearance from 33s or 35s will be nice.

Was looking at the Mud Jayson pics and this really might be worth trying to fab.. CV angle could be greatly reduced and 35s a good possiblity with some fender trimming. Very very interesting.

Lockers make good equalizers for lack of flex.

I have seen the pics of that Mud Jayson lift...
Ours is kinda similar, however we do not use lift springs as a standard for part of the lift (although we can easily make the lift to accomidate lift springs for people that want them, as I have already stated). Instead, we are using the full 6" bracketry and rear lift spacers (as it currently stands). Articulation will be helped greatly in the rear end as there will be more flex until you hit bumpstop (or reach full spring compression, depending on if you want/use lift springs instead of spacers in the rear). The higher ground clearance and ability to fit much larger diameter tires (the only TRUE lift there is) is a major plus.

Andy, you have WAY more IFS flex than an R50 ever could...well in the front that is.

This is just my opinion, guys, but if you're going to expend the effort of building a big lift, you might as well design it for the people who will be buying it.

By that, I mean design something that increases the off-roadability of the truck, not just something that increases ground clearance so you can fit bigger tires. It would be nice to get some additional rear axle flex, not just more ground clearance. Front and/or rear swaybar disconnect systems would also be cool, as would a new skidplate that spans the gap between the radiator crossmember and the relocated front suspension crossmember. Will you also be including new brake lines and diff breather hoses with the kit?

Who is your target market for this lift? Show trucks? 4x4 enthusiasts (i.e. US)?

I agree. If I was building the lifts I would want Keith or Dean to test it for me. They seem to do the most offroading with their R50s and know their shnit, they would test it for its "real" usage, ie beating on it.
That said, smiley16 to you guys for doing this.

Dean, I too questioned this but there are several sides to the situation and I can understand why they are limiting the lift with spring 'blocks' ie. stock flex, rather than more flexy springs providing the rear lift and a portion of the front lift.

1. the lift is cheaper and the customer can later upgrade with different spring options at their convience

2. Their liablity is decreased because if they make the rear REALLY flex and the front stock flexi the chance of a roll over increases greatly...unlike keeping the stock springs and using rear blocks
see pic

3. More mall crawlers will probably buy this than actual offroaders. I can name on two hands hardcore offroad R50 owners that would actually REQUIRE the flex.
