Hello all,

I have a 1996 pathfinder with 30 x 9.50 bf goodrich all terrain tires. I also have installed a Bds 2 inch suspension lift, which now I can change my tire size if I want to ( with a rim that has 3.5 back spacing ). I want to chagne my rims and tires to 16's. Has anyone here ever changed from 15's to 16's? Is this a good thing to do? I mean will there be any unusuall wear and tear on anything like my tranny or anything like that?

Also, out here in Az it has done nothing but rain for the last several days, which is no big deal unless both of your head lights fill up with water and short the bulbs out. Is there such a thing as a head light gaurd to prevent the lens on headlights from getting broke by stray rocks on the freeway?

Has anyone ever bought an aftermarket luggage rack for their 96 pathfinder? If so, where did you get it at.

Thanks

C. Harris

Changing your wheel size will not affect mileage, tranny, wear and tear, etc. at all, it's the size of the tire that matters. The wheel just changes the size of the hole in the middle of the tire.

Generally the larger the wheel diameter, the more the tires will cost, a 31x10.50-15 and a 265/70-16 are pretty much identical in width and diameter, but the 265-70-16 will typically cost 10-15% more for the exact same brand/model.

Offroadx,

Thanks for your response, so going from a 9.5 wide tire to a 10.5 inch wide tire will not cause any problems? The reason I ask is I saw an article somewhere where someboyy said it was not a good thing to do to go to a wider tire than what was stock.

Thanks again

I just researched this too. I thought a 30x9.50R15 was a closer match ? Ide rather not go bigger since gas milage is important to me. the 265/70/15 calculates to 29.6" tall and 10.4" wide.

The BRG A/T's 30x9.5x15 generally run slightly shorter than the advertised height, so it's about 29.5" tall. The same is true for the P-metric tires, so the 265's will be about 29" tall.
You can verify this info at Tirerack.com , they have the manufacture "stats" of each tire they carry.
