what do you mean? I am pretty sure my 97 has a very tight limited slip from the factory but I don't know about it being locked.

Here's some info.
Confused AS I understand it, w/ some modrate wheeling it tends to wear out pretty quickly and the lockup isn't all that great, either, that is w/o some mods, that I think are buried in the above link(info).

What I'm trying to find out is if the front diff locks automatically when you go to four low or if it is an open diff in the front as well. I don't have manual hubs on the front and can't find any info on whether or not they have a locking front diff that auto-engages. smiley35

limited slip differential would only be in the rear- from the factory.

the front diff is open on ALL older stateside nissans. Limited slip is a factory option in the rear only. The only way to get a locker in the front is aftermarket (like an ARB, etc), but I'm not sure if they are available for the 96+ pathfinders.

if you are talking about the front hubs.. the R50s do not have front hubs, they have a drive flange which always engages the wheels with the front diff...everything is always spinning, so it can be just shifted into 4x4 at any time.

If you are talking about the actual front differential, there is no locker for it.
