Hi all
Im new to the site and need some info.I have a 2003 LE that I bought new.Its been my wifes daily driver for 60000 miles now I have it. I would like to fix it up for medium duty off roading in so. Calif. desert. What mods. would you recomend in what order. How does the all mode 4x4 system on the LE do off road compared to the part time system. My last question could someone explain to me how the all mode system works. Is there a center diff. that locks in 4x4hi and 4x4low.Thanks in advance for any help. |

The all mode transfer case still has hi and low 4x4 just like the part time systems and the rest of the drivetrain is the same as part time systems. Yes, the center diff locks in hi/low mode and it becomes a part-time system. It should work fine offroad as the low range is lower than the part time systems.
The all mode system actually varies torque to the front wheels. In my 99 the rear tires can actually slip just a little before locking the front. The system is much more complicated than this, but this gives you an idea. |

thanks for the info. System-F. I have one more question what do you mean by lower gearing than the part time? I thought all 2003 Pathfinders had a 2.59 Tcase
