Hello eveybody. Another newbie here. '97 Pathy SE, 4WD, 86k, Jim Wolf Intake, 3" cat back. I've got a gremlin and I can't figure it out. Lately the truck won't start after it's been sitting for a few days. It takes five to ten turns of the key and then she fires. Once or twice it's fired and sputtered a bit but usually once it starts it's good to go for the rest of the day and runs fine. The only thing I've tried so far is a new fuel filter. Any thoughts?

Sounds suspiciously like a fuel pressure issue. You could possibly have an injector leaking pressure down, which would require the fuel system to repressurize on cold start before it'll fire properly. When it does finally start, does it blow any black smoke?
You could possibly try jumping the fuel pump temporarily to see if it starts easily when the fuel pump has been run for 20-30 seconds first. And, by the way, welcome to the board! |

No smoke issues. I'm thinking that it could be a fuel supply problem too. Before it started not starting, it stalled every nonw and then. That's when I decided to change the fuel filter. Are there any kind of fuel temp sensors or something electrical that would keep it from firing?
