So I caught an advert. on TV for the new Pathfinder. Couldn't help but hear their claim, "Most capable offroad Pathfinder yet".

Umm, what are they smoking? Most capable?? Out of 4 wheel independent???

Its arguable. This is the first time a real locker has been available. That's a pretty good equalizer for poor articulation.

Lots more to break, though... and I couldn't find a locker option although I might not have been looking in the right place. It seems like it has the ABS locking feature which uses the brakes to lock wheels like Land Rovers?

C230 rear diff, no locker available OEM or otherwise. The Frontier and Xterra are getting the factory locker, but they have D44 rears...

I thought they were using the center chunk from a D44 for the IFS in the rear like they do in the armada?

Definitely not the most capable yet.. I'd probably say least capable out of all of the pathfinders so far.

Nope, the Armada also has the C230 rear, the rumor of a D44 IRS was completely false...

It's my belief that they should've kept making the older style as a separate model. The '05 will probably break sales records and get great write-ups,but it's really just a grocery getter and take it to the ski slopes don't leave the road type of SUV.It'll have a broader appeal and make a name for Nissan, but it's not going to satisfy the hardcore Nissan4wheelers.

In the vehicle's defense,I drove it and I thought it had great acceleration, whipped corners at 50 mph,and was real comfortable.I wouldn't do anything more strenuous than take it across a cornfield when I'm hunting, though. And the other people looking at the one I test drove were putting in orders for ones that had both sides power seats. So I guess that is their new customer base.

Odd this should get revived at this time. Turns out the Pathfinder doesn't have the C230 rear after all.
I discovered last week that it has the R200 rear, and R180 front!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...

Just about pissed myself...

But I guess in the manufactors (Nissan, Toyota, Dodge, Chevy, etc) 4x4 world most Off Road claims are built on the basis of a Dirt Road and a trail rating of -2

I drove it too... nice but try and sit in the back seat... THERE'S NO ROOM..

My shoe is a size 10 and I couldn't even get my feet straight, both of them had to be on an angle becasue you can't get them under the front seat.

I like it and I don't....

Even the older pathfinders had more room than that. Thats terrible, especially considering how much bigger the newer pathfinders are..

I wear 10 1/2s and can fit my feet in the floorboard of my 95 pathy's rear seat pretty comfortably.

my friend is 6' 7" with a 14 shoe size and fits comfotably in the back of the caR50...you would think the new pathfinder would at least be roomier and more 'civil'
