so i sunk the wd...real bad its my dd...well was

and my friend did his 99 tj lifted 4"/winch/locker/goodies in too....but i made it farther than him

but enough about him.... so the story goes like this

my friend in the jeep calls me and asked if i wanna go to paragon on sunday and wheel with a local tristate group here. i was like yeha im putting some stuff in my truck now if he wanted to come to the shop and help out it would be awesome. my friend joe meets up with us there and we get to work do some minor stuff, etc... joe suggests we go wheelin, me and jon (jeep owner are itchin to go) so we concur. we go. jon gets stuck in a rut front end down completely under water, wd is okay as i took a trail i knew was there (just couldnt exactly find it perfect) i tow him from the tire carrier (which by the way worked awesome for some reason) and it was putch black both of our headlights are under water so we cant see anything i yank him into the tree as seen in pics. im like dud eim not getting u out, lets go back to the shop finish a majority of the r50, put it on the trailer, and bring it back here to do the recovery, on the way out, 100 yards from the end of the trail the current of the river pulls me off the trail and i dip off...rig starts floating. its 1130 at night and every normal person i know is asleep. my phone is on the floor good thing its waterproof. water is about 8 degress and moving at a decent speed. it was cold. we sat on the roof for about an hour until my friends dad came in a canoe. went home changed and met at the shop to do some work on the r50 and make it street legal enough to drive 100 yards from parking lot to grey area wheelin spot to do a recovery

so we did ALOT of work.

snorkel done and waterproofed via silicone and electricla tape.
modified 2001 hyundai elentra tail pipe + 6' flex hose to make for a sick plain savage exhaust.
finished bolting the front diff in to place (as i had it dropped out for ease of install on the prado lift)
mounted up the bumper and welded it and painted it.
stuck some headlights on for legality issues, and ill be damned if i legally plated it in new jersey

so bam we get back there and do the recovery on the wd

my tall friend jon is on the roof steering the truck out

TOTAL DAMAGE: front bullring gone, front bumper ripped off. wd...completely screwed.

NEXT was the jeep. went to pull it out of a completely muddy and completely uderwater area (over 3-5-6 feet of water in some sections). i had some bald ass 35x12.50 geolander mt's on. well no they didnt work...so i had to go get something and come back (just building the excitment here)

so we did the recovery on the jeep no problem

and for the big surprise

35x14.50x15 boggers on 15x10 wheels. the wd sitting in the lot drying out while we did the recovery on the heeper, and sitting int he garge about 5000lbs more heavy with water. and some shots of the truck parked at the shop.

small problem with the wide tires...no rubbing issues on the metal but on the strut.

i ordered my wheel spacers yesterday (as its 4am) i pick them up in 7 hours...(sensing excitment) and then tonight I *MYSELF* didnt let friends touch welder i did it myself. welded the bumper back on mounted the wd31 headlights so they are level and more or less aimed properly. i put the fenders on and boy its shaping up even without a grille but oh wait...im going custom...completely custom mesh grille which is getting cut and mounted tomorrow along with wheel spacers and this baby is back on the road sans doors

enjoy. ill be done messing this thing for a while hopefully after tomorrow

It's those "Surely not" thoughts that really make you go back and read the whole thing carefully.

Glad you pulled em out. That was some deep water to get lost in. Any idea on the damages yet?

I'm still recovering from a lesser drowning. Fried ecu and flaky cas so far. Looks like maybe something still isn't right. Frown
