Hi! I bought a 98 Qx4 and I would like to put a safari bar or a pull bar (and not a push bar) on it. But I can't find nothing for it because the Qx4 are separate in 2, the 96-99.5 and the 99.5-04. I would like to know why? Is it that the "frame" is so different or it's just a question of bumper or something easy to fix?

Except for minor changes the unibodies should be almost identical. 99.5 and ups mainly had different front bumpers, rear shocks were different, and a few other interior and cosmetic items. Bumpers listed for 99.5 and up might fit your 98 with modification and you will be on your own. Depending on your level of fab skills this may or may not work for you.

Ok, so what your telling me is that a 99.5 + safari bar should fit on my truck with minor changes?

It require more than minor changes, but the front Unibodys should be similar. Some fascia might get in the way of the 99.5 + bumper and require removal/triming. Also be aware that this advice is coming from someone who is not afraid to hack away pieces of their vehicle to get something that will provide a much needed function to fit
