Thats what I was going to drill holes in first, then I found the resonator..

Sorry to dig this up. But What is a stock 1997 SE supposed to get for MPG?
 Im at 1/4 tank left and im only at 190 miles

Pretty impressive,isn't it?Cold Air intake,better plugs,and you should be back in business.They don't do too well.Mine averages 16 mpg,while my '98 Frontier 4x4 4 cyl gets around 26mpg.

Your 98 gest 26 mpg???? Mine never even got close to that, even stock. Now it gets about 14.

for steering, Keith, I'd consider just hacking the subframe and replacing with a section of box steel. cut a small section out of the inner fender and then weld the box steel in place to allow a standard steering box to fit. Then just mix and match steering linkages to get to the box.
