wtf...

I found this under the air cleaner box. The big opening was shoved into some foam up at the top of the fender.(?) I don't see how this was a good idea.

There's an air temperature sensor in it, so I removed it and mounted it inside the box.

check out the pollen on the table.

I didn't feel any difference in the butt-dyno...should be better than the stock thing though.

wow.....that's a weirdo intake manifold. How different is the 3.5? vs the 3.3 or 3.0.

I just drove it and didn't notice any difference in sound.

The 92 (3.0) had a big black piece up in the fender but it wasn't nearly as strange. It was slightly louder after I took it off, IIRC.

I don't know, how I see it, if nissan is gonna engineer, design, and produce that funky plastic deal, it must have some purpose.

maybe find in a parts manual an exploded view of the intake system, see if it is labeled

the best guess i can give with no change in sound is possibly for high RPM air dilivery, to direct the air for best induction. visit your local dealer and ask a seasoned nissan tech if he knows anything about it. that is if you care that much...

oh yeah, see if you gas milage changes, some goofy crap like that might not be noticeable in the butt-dyno, or have an audiable difference. but the ol gas gauge won't lie to you...

I listened very closely today and heard a small hum.

Don't think it'll alter gas mileage at all...

And pulling air through a foam block surely isn't efficient.

The 92 makes alot of intake noise. Very audible hissing until I get far enough into the throttle for the exhaust leak noise to overcome the hiss.
