Instrument Cluster Light Problem

My instrument cluster worked normally. I towed a U-Haul trailer with a simple four prong light set up that I attached to my Nissan trailer wiring harness. The lights on the U-Haul and the truck all worked fine, however, my instrument cluster lights (speedometer, tach, etc) as well as my radio and environmental controls did not light up when the truck headlights were turned on. The radio and environmental controls all still function only none of their displays light up. The problem is not that the interior light dial is turned down. When the lights are turned off, the radio and environmental control displays all light up immediately. I checked the fuses and could not find one that was burned out. Does anyone know if there is a separate instrument cluster fuse? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I currently have to turn on the interior lights to be able to read the speedometer at night.

Thanks,
Kent

Check the relay box located under the hood on the driver's side wheel well.

Okay wait a second...when the dial is turned all the way down your instrument lights come on bright as day?? I had this exact problem.. there was a wire for the instrument lights behind the dash grounding out. I would look at where wires have been messed with (who installed the trailer wiring thingambob) somewhere a wire is probably grounding out.

Thanks for all the help. There is no distinct fuse for the Instrument cluster on the 2002 LE, however, I bypassed the dimmer and all works well for the meantime. It looks like I will simply need to buy a new dimmer when I get to my destination.

Thanks again,
Kent
