Well the ride came w/ the 17's. I thought it was pretty cool at the time but now that its almost time to get new tires there just aren't to many choices in the SUV/offroad category. Maybe I should get some cheap steal 16" rims?

If you're going to switch rims anyway, get 15" steelies. Tires are cheaper for 15's, and more sizes are available.

You would have to check with the R-50 experts, but I think after a certain year they upped the size of the rotor requiring a 16" rim. I could be wrong, but you might want to double check that.

I think your right. 15's won't clear either the calipers or the rotors.

looks like a disaster waiting to happen! I guess if you doing nothing but city driving it shouldn't be a prob, but off road.

Why would it be a problem off road vs. on the street? If they clear the calipers, there should be no issue unless the wheel itself flexes, which shouldn't be happening. confused

Well, if mud, rocks or other debris get stuck in the inside of the wheel, they could lodge against the caliper and possibly damage the wheel and/or caliper. The clearance looks like it's less than 2mm.

Also, some custom wheels use adhesive wheel balancing weights placed on the inside of the wheel; they certainly will not clear the caliper... but that's not specifically a unique condition of off-roading anyway...

Odews posted that he had 31's on a 02 Pathy. What is the backspacing on those wheels. I've got a 02 QX4 with a 2" lift and 16's with a 4.5" backspacing. I want to get tires that are about 31.5" tall but am afraid of it rubbing the lower strut cup. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
