What problems would I encounter when lifting my 2002 R50 and using the stock struts? Thanks

CV angles are the biggest problem.

Check with System-F on the board and have a look at the lift he's put together....that's your best bet for lift without destroying parts offroad.

Keith grenaded two of them with that lift on a week long run. At full droop, the CV's bind.

You'll want to replace the struts when doing the lift for the best ride.

With the AC lift, you will run into problems with the CV angles. I'm running that lift now, but I haven't run into grenaded CVs YET...torn boots, yes...but then again, I'm fairly conservative off-road - I do wheel higher level trails, but I take them slowly and try not to break my truck. LOL.

So the OME lift will not be as bad but it will still cause wear?

(I have never had a front ac 2" spring lift on the caR50, Dean has and has had no problems)

With JUST the ac 2" SPRING LIFT you won't have any problems, because the full droop of the front suspension doesn't change. It's when you start pushing the strut down allowing the suspension to go beyond it's stock amount.

Thank you for the help. I am now trying to decide if i should go with the OME or AC coils. I used to own a lifted 95 pathy and I definitly dont want to deal with steering/suspension problems again.

don't worry about steering problems. No one that I know of has damaged an R50's steering off road. The rack and pinion's inner tie rods are so much longer that the angles are always within limits.

If I were to install the AC coils with stock struts would there be any problems?

Not per se. If your struts are worn, or old, then you'll have poor ride quality because of the worn out struts.

If you want to stay with OEM struts, you can replace them with new Nissan parts at the same time. Might be worth it to do so, since you're going to be tearing apart the strut assembly anyways...

I have ran the lifted coils with stock and kybgr2 struts. Both work fine. But You will have to correct your camber after the lift. The best lift is the drop blocks.

Where do you get the drop blocks ?? I already have the AC lift and have had no trouble with CV's however I do have Warn hubs so that saves some wear and tear on the CV's.

drop blocks may cause you to exceed the working range of your CV's at full droop. I watched System-F grenade a couple halfshafts on AZ Run IV before he engineered his drop axle lift. The lift he built uses a drop spacer between the unibody and the upper strut mount (angles hae to be just right on this), and brackets to lower the entire axle assembly to lift the truck but keep the CVs well within their range.

I know he built a couple other kits for others, but I'm not sure how badly he'd want to build more....

it would take lots of green for me to want to build another one of those kits...boring and redundant work..
