Hey everybody, I want to take the front rotors off my Pathy and get them turned/resurfaced and/or replaced if need be. I want to do this myself but I've never messed with anything that requires you to take the hub off. Can anybody give me some step by step instructions...as though you were talking to a 5 year old Smile

I took the wheel off and all the bolts that hold the hub on but couldn't get it to come off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just replaced the rotors on my 95HB. Pretty straight forward job with the right tools. The wheel bearing nut gets torque to 72FTLB. I highly recommend buying this tool OTC7698 by OCT tools. The general 1/2 ton wheel bearing lock nut I bought at the parts store did not work.

1) remove free-running hub. 8 6mm allen head bolts. You can buy a allen key socket set a wall-mart for like $13.

2) Remove 2 flat head set screws which hold wheel bearing lock nut retaining washer in place.

Note- Very small screws place them in a zip lock bag( baby food jar) and tag them(write what they are and where they go).

3) Use OTC7698 http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=OTC7698&hl=en&btnG=...ode=online&scoring=p

http://www.4x4parts.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Nu...psed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
and remove wheel bearing lock nut.

4) Remove hub and rotor together

Note- This is a good time to repack wheel bearing. The outer wheel bearing will fall out when you remove the hub. The inner wheel bearing you have to knock out the inner grease seal to get out. I do not recommend repacking inner wheel bearing if you do not have a new grease seal. You will f*** up the old one trying to remove. The grease seal is pressed in(hammer works good)

5) place rotor in a vice and clamp down.

6) remove 6 14mm hex holts holding rotor hub. These nuts have lock tite installed from the factory. You will need at least a 3 foot cheater bar with a 4 foot breaker bar. When reinstalling bolts on new rotor MAKE SURE you use lock-tite.

I am assuming you have the drive flanges and not hubs. Just pop a flathead screw driver between the drive flang and hub until you pry it off. First time around my drive flanges were on pretty tight
