yeah, that 52 mile round trip 80 mph commute would be a hoot (or a hootus?) in the P-roll!

I could replace the Xterra tho......Will a hockey stick fit inside? Razz

of course a hocky stick will fit....if 4 snowboards fit in the back with 2 dogs you should be fine. That 52 miles take ya an hour though in a P-troll. You could always do like some guys over at PlushFab and put new Nissan drivetrain under it for the 80mph P-troll Big Grin

Yeah, but if I was going to go through that amount of trouble, I'd look for something with more oomph than a VG33E. The engine it's got has as much power as a VG33E....it just needs an overdrive gear. Maybe a 3.5 out of a late model Pathy or QX4....the Patrol would MOVE with that setup!

Hey Fudd, are you going to drive the 80 patrol up here? I'm assuming you got it from a supplier down south...? If so, how about you throw a 4 speed in the back for me. I'll pay up ahead if you can get a sound one ready to bolt up. Do you know if I use the same transfer case that my 69 has? By the way, great job on the Hogan sale. $9K is good news for all us Patrol owners. Is the special top on the 80 modified from a FJ-40?

I think hes keeping "Hogan"... Something about seatbelts and a horn...

And an FJ-40 top wouldnt fit. FJ-40's have curves on the rear of their tubs. Unlike our Patrols which have boxy tubs.

I think a Land Rover D-90 soft top will fit, though. Ive been watching ebay for one...

Awesome! Man, that thing's a beauty. H260 - does that mean there's a locker in your future? Devil

Jon, go back and look at the pic. It sure looks like a modified FJ top to me, curved corners and all.

Oddly enough, it does look like an FJ-40 top... What's the deal Ian? Can we see a rear view of it?

You can even see where the Patrol's corners stick out... Let me bring up a pic of an FJ-40 top...

It really does look like an FJ-40 hard top... that must mean that their soft tops would work... woo hoo!

That's not an fj40 top. The windows are too big. Plus the windshield width is different, same reason you can't use a fj40 bikini. Jerry

I'm sticking to the opinion that it's a modified FJ top. Looks like it isn't made to fit the Patrol in the front, and the back windows, with the exception of the side ones, which I think have also been modified, look like FJ ones. Plus the curved rear, and Patrols are squared there... Pretty sure it's a modded FJ top.

I did keep Hogan for now...painted the head and stuff today, new gauge cluster that I restored and man it is cool to have working stock gauges! Painted my steering colum in the cab and the steering wheel. Restored map light installed. Um and I finished the front lift on my 66 Patrol today...

The top on the 80 LG61 is not a FJ40 top. Jerry is right about his statements. This top is/was custom made for some P-trolls in S.America. It may be a bit of a copy with the back windows or it may use FJ40 windows on corners but it is not an FJ40 top...this is a MWB Patrol and it is a fair share longer than either an FJ40 or a USA 60 series. The opera side windows were standard on all Patrols starting in 78 and these are the same.

As far as 4spd...I would like to see how this 80 is before hand. And that going to be 2005 before this baby is home! The G61 was only sold in 1980 between the release of the MQ/MK and the end of the 60 series. That is why it is packing the MQ/Mk 4spd and steering box. Yepper the H260 is the heavy duty rear end and this bad boy has it. Plus a padded dash! Yep a detroit locker drops into this H260 and yep this all in my future! Big Grin

Sweet! Those curved rear windows are about the only thing I like better about FJ40's.
